Sweet Moment on Mott Street functions as a hybrid cafe and dessert spot, blending elements of a coffee shop, bakery, and casual restaurant. It draws a steady local crowd seeking both their caffeine fix and inventive sweet treats, especially those with a penchant for matcha and layered desserts.

The space itself is clean and relatively spacious for the neighborhood, with a relaxed but socially active vibe. During weekdays, it seems popular among people working on laptops, drawn by a calm buzz that alongside some background chatter allows for productivity if you come prepared (noise-cancelling headphones help). Weekend afternoons are notably busier, often requiring patience to find seating, signaling its role as a go-to spot for casual meetups and dessert runs.

Atmosphere-wise, the place balances chill and lively without overwhelming noise. The interiors, although welcoming, show some wear with minor details like dusty vents and unusual wallpaper choices that can feel a touch off, but they do little to detract from the core experience.

Menu-wise, Sweet Moment shines brightest with its creative take on classic Asian-inspired desserts and coffee drinks. Matcha is a recurring star here—from the creamy Bear Matcha Latte to the layered Matcha and Cheesecake Bingsoo, and waffle options such as the Matcha Strawberry and Nutella Banana Waffles. The desserts blend texture and flavor thoughtfully, like the shaved ice that mixes matcha with red bean and sesame milk into distinct layers, offering more than just sweetness but a playful complexity.

Coffee offerings include quality espresso drinks like Flat Whites and distinct choices such as the Tiramisu Latte, catering both to traditional coffee lovers and those seeking novel flavor twists alongside their sweets.

Sweet Moment works well as a casual stop for locals craving a midday sugar boost or an afternoon pick-me-up. It suits both light socializing and working visits, particularly for those who appreciate a calm yet energetic setting. Early weekday visits might offer easier seating, while weekends deliver a more bustling experience centered around friends sharing sizable portions.

Whether you’re drawn by the layered texture of their bingsoo, the rich and sweet matcha lattes, or the variety of macarons and pastries, Sweet Moment offers a distinctly East-meets-West dessert cafe experience reflective of its Chinatown surroundings but with a contemporary twist.

I stopped in on a whim looking for a sweet treat and I found one. The mango treat hit the spot. It was made to order and seemed to be fresh mango. From the looks of it the portion of the other treats were big, so things are shareable. many people were enjoying coffee and working when I arrived. The space was clean and spacious.

I tried the iced matcha latte, which was around $7 including tax for the small cup you see here, but I suppose that's par for the Manhattan course. I got it sweetened, it was quite tasty and rich. But what you're really paying for is the ambiance. The social atmosphere is vibrant but not obnoxiously loud, so you can get work done as long as you have noise-cancelling headphones. And they have a restroom which is a huge plus.

We ordered matcha red bean sesame milk shave ice, and it was super good! You got different layers or flavors and textures, and I must say whoever came up with this idea of the orchestration among these three ingredients is a genius. The store is pretty busy during the weekend afternoon, so it is kind of hard to find a seat.

The cake thing I got seemed like it was frozen but then wasn't defrosted all the way. I honestly couldn't finish and chucked it in the bin. The tea I got was yummy and sour and pretty good. The atmosphere was chill. Nice table. Good place to sit. The ceiling was dusty and the vents could have some cleaning. The walls had a very strange vertical wallpaper that looked off. Honestly not bad though. Decent place to pop into for a hot tea and a rest especially on a rainy day

Great atmosphere and the perfect place to grab a coffee and catch up with friends. Relaxed, welcoming vibe, and the shaved ice was absolutely refreshing, fun, and a sweet highlight of the visit!

Such a cozy little dessert spot tucked in Manhattan! I stopped by for a treat and was so glad I did. The bingsu was fluffy and not overly sweet, and the presentation was adorable. The staff were kind, the vibe was chill, and it’s the perfect place to relax after a long day. Whether you’re into shaved ice, matcha drinks, or aesthetic desserts, this spot has something special. Will definitely come back with friends!
